The Lamp Lighter

In the mid 1980’s the city of Cannon Beach celebrated the holiday season in the spirit of Charles Dickens, with a resident walking down the main street lighting oil lamps as evening approached.

Local artist Joe Brown organized a holiday art show in 1985 including works by approximately 25 Cannon Beach artists. I helped design a poster for the show, using the lamp lighter as the subject. The posters were a big hit.

Some of the artists are well-known, others are obscure, but the overall quality of the show is impressively high.
